Which Wedding Jewelry Pieces Should You Wear

As a bride, you want the elements of your wedding ensemble to complement and enhance your natural beauty, not compete for attention. That is why most experts recommend wearing simple wedding jewelry sets. What should your jewelry ensemble consist of? That depends on your hair and dress. Here are some tips to help you pull it all together.

Earrings :

Keep your dress and hairstyle in mind when you choose earrings. Chandelier or dangly earrings can look wonderful with an up do, but can become tangled if you wear your hair down. If your dress is elaborate, keep the earrings simple. Popular choices for a formal wedding include pearl studs, diamonds, and crystal solitaire earrings.

Hair Jewelry :

Tiaras, hairpins, combs, and decorated headbands can all add interest and glamour to your wedding hair. If you choose an eye-catching piece, such as a crown-like tiara, let this be the central element in your jewelry ensemble. A subtle piece, like a pearl comb, can complement more elaborate jewelry.

Back jewelry :

You can enhance the look of a backless or low-cut gown by wearing a back drop, backwards strands of opera-length pearls, or lariat. This also adds more interest for the guests during the ceremony.

Necklace or pearls :

The necklace can be bold (to complement a simple wedding dress) or delicate (to balance the look of an elaborate gown). If your gown has an interesting neckline, you may want to go without. Keep in mind that different lengths work best with different necklines. Generally, leave a gap between the neckline and necklace. Alternately, you can wear long pearls or a necklace below the neckline if your dress is unadorned.

Wrist wear :

Unless your dress is strapless, the general rule is to keep hands and wrists unadorned (except for the wedding ring set, of course). Or, wear a delicate bracelet as an accent piece. Too much "going on" around your wrists or hands will distract attention away from you and the gown, and fragment the look. The
strapless gown is the exception. A cuff or other substantial bracelet can enhance bared shoulders and arms.

Earrings, necklace, hair jewelry, back jewelry, and bracelet. Wear all, some, or none. But keep in mind that together they should create a balanced look. Most importantly, the jewelry ensemble should reflect you and your personal style.

Choose Earrings That Suits your Face Shape

Earrings are a popular piece of jewelry and it is essential to choose the right styles for your face shape. Wearing the right earrings will help to flatter and define your features.
To determine your face shape, start by pulling your hair away from your forehead with a hair band, stand in front of a mirror and trace the outline of your face with a soap bar or lipstick onto the mirror.
Check your face shape against those listed below. Each one is outlined with their defining features and some celebrity examples to help you work out which shape you belong to. If you’re having difficulty working out which face shape you have, just ask a friend for some help.

Oval Face
Features: Forehead is wider than the chin, with a gently rounded hair line. Length is approximately equal to one and a half times width.
Celebrities: Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron, Beyonce Knowles, Jessica Alba
Best Suit: Soft shapes such as pearls, teardrops, ovals and studs work the best. Oval faces are very versatile and can wear pretty much anything. Just experiment with all styles to see which ones you prefer.

Round Face
Features: Circular shape which is as is as wide as it is long. Characterised by a round chin.
Celebrities: Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz, Drew Barrymore
Best Suit: Long, lean and angular curvy lines to elongate the round face. Drop earrings in oblongs, ovals and dangles work best. Bold angular stud earrings can also look great.
Avoid: Large, chunky earrings. And steer clear of hoops and small studs.

Oblong Face
Features: Similar to the square face, but an oblong face is longer than it is wide
Celebrities: Hilary Swank, Sarah Jessica Parker, Terri Hatcher, Angelina Jolie
Best Suit: Statement chandelier styles with lots of volume. Simple studs also work well as they draw the eyes horizontally.
Avoid: Long and angular earrings that mirror your face shape.

Diamond Face
Features: Strong and broad forehead with angular jaw and a square hair line. Widest at the cheeks and narrow at the chin and the forehead.
Celebrities: Katherine Hepburn, Linda Evangelista, Sophia Loren
Best Suit: Earrings with more width than length, a combination of straight lines and curves are great. Studs also look good on diamond shape faces as do small drops.
Avoid: Diamond shape earrings and angular squares.
Remember to match the style and colour of your earrings to your outfit and to the occasion. Be comfortable in what you wear and your elegance will shine through.

Estate Jewelry

Choosing estate jewelry can be a little scary at first but what you need to remember is buying estate jewely is no different than choosing your wardrobe.

The most important thing is to buy jewelry you like and that works with your personality and wardrobe to make your fashion style. You need to watch for quality and reputable sellers. Online is the perfect place to buy estate jewelry.

It also never hurts to try something different and buy jewelry that's a little different than what you would normally buy. Change is good! What's most important is that your jewelry adds the finishing touches to your outfit. Make your fashion statement count and get noticed!

You need to determine what you want your jewelry to do. Do you want it front and center stage? Do you want it to compliment? Do you want it subtle? The occasion or event you'll be wearing your jewelry to is also important - make certain it is fitting. A sexy oversized choker might be perfect for a night on the town but may not be fitting for the boardroom.

Although you may have a favorite designer. There's really no need to stick with just one designer. In fact there's no need for the pieces to actually be designer. There are plenty of wonderful pieces on the market that are unsigned but certainly make a fashion statement. Mix and match your jewelry to give it character and a little pizzaz!

Costume Jewelry, both signed and unsigned, is an affordable way to complete your look. Costume Jewelry can be bought for a low price and has plenty of life. Heck we see costume jewelry back to the 1920s still in excellent condition. What's great with costume jewelry is you can use it, get tired of it, put it away or give it away and have still gotten good value for your money. Designer pieces tend to cost a little more, last a little longer, and they usually follow more traditional lines so you can wear them for more than one or two seasons.

Sterling Silver is affordable and very versatile. If you don't want to spend the money for sterling, then purchase some silver plate pieces. Silver is a must have to any wardrobe! You can go from dainty and delicate to large and noticeable. It can be dressed up or down and is acceptable for any event or occasion.

We always recommend have some gold plate or gold tone pieces in your wardrobe basics also. 10-14k gold may be a bit too pricey for many but gold plated jewelry is quite affordable and will give you good value for the cost. Gold like silver can be dressed up or dressed down and is perfect for a very classy look.

When purchasing rings you can have great fun - again the choices are endless from large and overwhelming to dainty and feminine. The length and size of your fingers plays an important role in what will look good. For example long skinny fingers don't look good with huge oversized rings, yet a woman that has long thicker fingers they look exquisite. Long nails? Short nails? it all makes a difference. Play and see what you like what looks good. Also determine where you will be wearing these rings. For example if your working around fine fabrics you'll not want any rins that have sharp edges that could snag. Your rings are also part of your total statement.

When purchasing necklaces be certain you know your neck size so that you get a good fit. This is very important when purchasing on line as you don't get a chance to try. If your neck is average in size then a 16" necklace will look great, however if you have a somewhat larger than average neck then a 16" necklace could be too tight. Measure the length of some of your favourite necklaces you already own. This will give you a good indication of what length you prefer. Opera necklaces which are over 30" are terrific. They can be double wrapped, knotted, or whatever else your imagination comes up with. When choosing colored necklaces make sure its a color that compliments your skin tone. It may match your outfit fabulously but if it doesn't match or compliment your skin tone your look could be lost.

When purchasing bracelets you'll need to decide where you're going to wear them, and how noticeable you want them to be. The availability of size and shape is endless - you can go from large bangle bracelets to dainy gem bracelets. If it is a slip on bracelet be sure that it will fit over your hand. Make certain to measure your wrist as the fit of a bracelet is very important. To large and it will look sloppy and may even slide off. Too small can constrict your wrist movement.

When purchasing earrings - the shapes and styles are endless - from dangles to chandeliers to hoops to studs to buttons. From enamel to beads to gems to metal to wood. Size of the earrings is very important to the statement your making. The larger the earring the more noticeable and the more incorporated they become into your total look. Large earrings aren't for everyone - depending on your face size and shape they may actually detract rather than attract. Experiment and find what looks best on you.

Your jewelry choices are endless - no matter what your tastes, your likes, your dislikes. You'll be able to complete your look just the way you want it with little effort. So be sure to make your fashion statement!

Choosing Perfect Earrings

Buying earrings is one of the more simple pieces of jewelry to buy because they go with just about everything. The perfect earrings can complete that perfect look. Earrings can come in a variety of sizes and claps. When buying earrings try and figure out if the person that you are buying for would wear long earrings, studs, small hoops, or large hoops. Most likely if a women wears long dangling earrings she is most likely to wear big hoops also. If she is very simple she may just prefer simple sterling silver studs, which are still elegant and trendy.

Stud earrings are small and easy to wear and usually complete that simple little cocktail dress or complete your summer look. They can feature either cubic zirconia stones on a stud backing or every pearl stud.

Choosing Perfect Jewelry

Jewelry is the best friend of a women. So, today i would be sharing with you the tips that are helpful to choose perfect jewelry..Ans also,What are the things you should look for when buying one for your sweet heart?

The following tips will help you :

* When choosing the jewelry you want to purchase, consider the personality of the girl you are buying the jewelry for. While it is true that girls like jewelry in general, getting a piece that really suits our tastes and personality makes the gift more special. For an easier and safer choice, consider giving her something with her birthstone.

* Take time when purchasing your jewelry. Be sure you have thoroughly inspected the jewelry for any cracks, scratches and other damages. After all, the lucky woman who’s going to get your gift deserves nothing less than perfection, right?

* There are many scammers out there trying to pass their cubic zirconiums as diamonds or their $2-drugstore jewelry as antique earrings, so be sure that you only buy your jewelry from trusted stores. Remember that if a deal seems too good to be true, then it probably is.

* If you’re going all out and decided to buy your girl a diamond, know that the things you have to carefully look at are color, cut and clarity. A good diamond (which is mostly colorless but can also come in pink, yellow and other colors) is perfectly cut and absolutely clear.

* Different stones and gems signify different things. Pearls exude elegance, diamonds perfection and ageless beauty. Ask your jeweler suggestions for the appropriate gift to ensure that you are putting across the right message.
* If you’re surprising your sweet heart with an engagement or wedding ring, be sure you know her ring size before you buy the jewelry first. There really is nothing as anti-climactic as getting a ring that is either too small or too big.

* After deciding on which design you want, have the jewelry assessed by an independent party before you pay for it. It’s and added hassle, yes, but remember that it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Traditional Indian Jewelry

KUNDAN JEWELRY :-

One of the oldest forms of jewelry making is - Kundan which was generated in Rajastha. It was made in ancient times, and was popularised in the Mughal period. This kind of jewelry was worn in the purest form of gold -24 carat. In that era, their was a premitive method of setting gemstones, consisting of a boundry of 24 carat gold foil. Stones were mounted and locked through an instrument with 24 carat gold foil, these stones are known as polkis (uncut or unprocessed diamonds or colored stones). Mina work was done on either sides of jewelry that is Front and back.

THEWA :-

An art of fusing 23 carat gold on glass. Thewa is a traditional art of fusing 23carat gold with multicolored glass. The glass is treated by a special process to have a glittering effect which in turn highlights the intricate gold work. In this form of jewelry making sheets of pure gold are fixed in a bed of resign and the entire design is pierced carefully removed from the resign, the finished gold leaf ’Thewa ki patti’ is placed on a colored glass base and is heated on an open crusible for fusing, whatever the mortifs, the mniature scale of thewa requires extraordinary dexturity and patience. As is the case with enamelling ,the cooling work in Thewa is critical, rapid cooling may shatter the glass so it is allowed to cool naturally. Individual units are then filled into bazels. Geometrical forms like ovals, squares, circles are the general norm. At this stage each unit is backed with highly polished silver foil, which ensures color uniformity of the base glass and also increases its brilliance.

Buying Tips of Custome Jewelry

Custom jewelry includes any jewelry that is made according to design details provided by the buyer. There are various reasons why jewelry buyers opt for custom jewelry instead of buying standard ready made jewelry.

The main reasons for ordering custom made jewelry would include the following:

(1) Requirement of a very specific design that is not common and popular: A family ring would be a good example of custom jewelry. A buyer who loves cats and dogs might want to have a ring that shows a cat and a dog sitting next to each other on the same ring. The probability of getting standard jewels of this type is slim and custom jewelry is the only option.

(2) A design that is a combination of other designs: Buyers often come up with requirements that can combine certain features of two or three rings into one single ring. The texture from one ring might be combined with the gemstone mounting of another. When such specific requirements are revealed, custom made jewelry can deliver the exact results required.

(3)Requirement of high end craftsmanship: Standard mass produced jewelry does not have the kind of high end craftsmanship that is expected for custom jewelry. On the other hand custom jewelry is almost always produced in single pieces and requires individual attention from skilled craftsmen. Most of the work for custom jewelry is done by hand and perfect handfinishing is provided.

(4) The need for large sized jewelry: You might find the perfect ring of your dreams, the design and gemstones could be exactly what you want however, your ring size might not be available. The choice in such a case is to order custom jewelry that is specifically made to your size requirement.

Here is some advices on buying custom jewelry:
(1) Good gemstones for the price paid: Mass produced jewelry are normally produced with medium to low quality gemstones. This is done in a bid to keep prices down and cater to low priced markets. Very often reject quality gemstones are used and gemstone defects are sought to be covered up with cleverly designed mountings. Ensure that the gemstones used in your custom jewelry are the best quality for the price paid.

(2) Good Gold Weight: Your custom jewelry should have a good weight. This is helpful in more ways thank one. Firstly, the good weight will ensure that your custom jewelry does not bend and twist at the slightest excuse. The good gold content will also allow the gemstones to be firmly mounted and also protect the edges and corners of the gemstone from side impact.

(3) Highend Craftsmanship: Custom jewelry is individually made in single pieces and is therefore more expensive as compared to standard mass produced jewelry. Good quality custom jewelry needs expert craftsmen and most of the work is handmade. The details on the custom jewel should be handfinished and perfect. Insist in getting the best craftsmanship for the premium price you pay for custom jewelry.

(4) Choice of Gold and Gemstones: Select your choice of 14k or 18k gold for your custom jewelry. There is also the choice of white gold or yellow gold to be made and make sure that your jeweler gives you this choice. Many jewelers push buyers into ordering 18k gold for custom jewelry. The reason is simple, 18k gold is more expensive and provides better profit margins to the seller. The second reason is that 18k gold is softer as compared to 14k gold and therefore more easier to work with. These reasons do not always make 18k gold good for you. There are some cases where the hardness of 14k gold is a better choice. This could be the case for male rings and also rings that have a fine and delicate design.

(5) Long Term Durability: Get complete design details of your custom jewelry and ask for comments of the seller. The gemstone mounting, gold weight and design details will all work together to decide the durability of your custom jewelry. A good jeweler will provide complete guidance and advice before you make the buying decision. If your jeweler seems over eager about pushing you to order without complete information, get another jeweler.

(6) Design Flexibility: Since custom jewelry is supposed to be specially made, you should have the option to request for any design modifications that you need. There should be no limitation on this and a good custom jeweler should allow you to send in your own designs to be custom made too. A jeweler who tries to restrict design flexibility is most likely trying to sell you a standard jewel as a custom jewel. All you end up getting is a higher price. Watch out for such gimmicks and avoid such jewelers.

(7) Value The Jeweler: Not all jewelry buyers are experts, few buyers have in-depth knowledge about gemstones and various jewelry design technics. In most cases you would have to rely on the advice of your jeweler so, get one that you can trust. Spend time reading the feedback from customers of your jeweler, this would point to important information regarding the capability of your jeweler. It is rightly said that, in the case of custom jewelry you need to value the jeweler before you value the jewelry.

Buying Silver Jewelry

Silver is very soft metal in its pure form so it is mixed with some alloys so that it can be moulded in Jewelry and other widgets.
The allergy that occurs by wearing original or artificial jewelry is referred as Nickel dermatitis or Contact dermatitis or Nickel allergy.

It is basically a contact allergy. It can happen anytime at any age. Every single human body reacts to different degree with nickel depending upon the tolerance and susceptibility level.
The main cause of these allergies is the nickel content present in the gold and silver ornaments.
Pure gold and silver metal are too soft to be mounted into any form therefore, jeweler mix nickel, zinc and copper into the pure metal to make it little hard enabling to give the desired shape to the metal.
Zinc and copper do not harm the skin but skin is always sensitive to nickel. People wearing jewelries are allergic to nickel and not with the Jewelry Gold itself is reactive and causes allergy but, mostly nickel is the main reason. Gold of any karat would contain nickel like 14K, 18K etc. In the same way silver is also mixed with nickel and copper to attain hardness and durability required to make the jewelry items.
Nickel is commonly used for gold and silver jewels as it costs less, gives better hardness and has strong lustrous effect.
Another reason for the allergy is sweat. During the sunny days, when jewelry is worn for a longer duration, skin perspires under the jewelry. This perspiration comes in the contact with the jewelry metal, dissolves the nickel present in the metal and form nickel salts. Salt reacts with the skin and leads to the allergy. Women suffer more with this allergy than men.
The Symptoms of these Allergies are :
[1] Bleeding.
[2] Pierced hole in ear or nose swells and yellow coloured liquid known as pus comes out.
[3] There is a constant itching and burning sensation around the area where the skin comes in direct contact with the jewelry item. For example – Gold chain in the neck, earrings in the ear etc.
[4] Few people get a blue coloured patch in their finger, which is visible after the ring is removed. And also skin discolouration takes place.
[5] Rashes or patchy red marks appear on the skin under the jewelry.

Being extra cautious while taking bath or washing hands can avoid these problems. Always ensure to wipe off the soap and water from the body fully.
To protect the fingers from the allergies, apply several coats of clear or transparent nail polish at the back of the ring. In same way nail polish can be applied to other jewelry items too. The problem of allergies will be solved.

Few other precautions that can be taken to avoid allergy are – apply talcum powder before wearing the jewelry to prevent the moisture. Do not wear tight earrings or rings or chains, leave little space so that air passes through it. These precautions and care the allergy can be avoided and they can continue to look good by wearing the fascinating jewelry items.

If you are concerned about the jewelry you already own, you can test it for the presence of nickel. Just ask your pharmacist or dermatologist for a "nickel testing" kit. Test your jewelry risk free from damage.
If you own any gold pieces less than 12 carats, chances are it contains nickel.
There is a simple and inexpensive solution to your jewelry allergies...wear Sterling Silver that is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper alloy.

For those who are nickel sensitive, fine silver and sterling silver are great choices for "white" metals.

Custome Jewelry

There is virtually no difference between costume jewelry and antique jewelry. Costume Jewelry dates back to the 1930s. By the definition of antique that would also make it antique jewelry. However, most jewelry experts have come to agree that antique jewelry predates the 1930s.

Costume Jewelry came into being in the 1930s as a cheap disposable jewelry meant to be worn with a specific outfit, but not meant to be handed down through generations. It was intended to be fashionable for a short period of time, out date itself, and then be repurchased to fit with a new outfit purchase, or with a new fashion style. It became available in large quantities during the 30s.

Cheap jewelry also existed prior to the 1930s. Paste or glass jewelry as far back as the 1700s. The rich had their fine jewelry duplicated for a variety of reasons, using paste or glass stones.
By the mid 1800s with the growth of the middle class there were now different levels of jewelry being manufactured using fine, semi-precious and base materials. Fine jewelry of gold, diamonds, fine gems such as emeralds and saphires continued to be made. Jewelry from rolled gold, which is a thin layer of gold attached to a base metal, entered the market for the middle class. This jewelry was often set with semi-precious gems such as amethyst, coral or pearls, and was much more affordable. And then there was jewelry that most anyone could afford, consisting of glass stones and base metals made to look like gold. All three types were intended to be passed down to future generations.

There are usually clues that can help one identify what era a piece of jewelry is from. Style, material, the type of piece. For example dress clips came in in the 1930s and were out of style by the 1950s. Jewelry reflects styles, designs, colors and stones of the era. For example from 1910 to 1930 silver was the favorite color for metal, so jewelry was found in platinum, white gold, silver or a base metal colored to look like silver. By World War II, gold was popular again but in short supply, since it was vital to the war effort. What gold was available was made into very thin sheets and usually bonded to silver (called vermeil) before being turned into jewelry. By the 1930s rhinestones popularity was ever increasing in Europe. It was not available to the Americans until the 1940s. As a result, many of the pieces from this period tend to feature lots of metal and a single stone or a small cluster of tiny rhinestones.

Today is certainly not much different from past times. We still have fine jewelry, semi precious jewelry, and of course costume jewelry available to us.
Costume jewelry can add the finishing touch and show your fashion sense. Costume Jewelry styles of past years are now becoming very fashionable and many are being reproduced. Even with costume jewelry there is a difference in quality. Many of the new pieces do not have the vibrance in the stones or the weight of the older pieces.

Antique and vintage costume jewelry are both fun to collect and fun to wear. No longer is costume jewelry simply "collectable." It is "in style, and" "fashionable," and a terrific conversation starter. Dress to impress!
